Wing Blades are ideal for paddlers wanting to get the maximum power from their forward stroke.
The Spectrum wing blades are unique in that they have two curves interacting with each other. One curve is 60 degrees off the centre-line and the other is 30 degrees off the perpendicular. This allows the blade to flow nicely in the water while rewarding a more natural paddling style.
The twist in the blades eases strain on the forearms.
The Spectrum blade has been engineered to catch the water in a way that allows the blade to deliver the same power throughout the whole stroke.
The blade's design facilitates exceptionally clean entry and exit.
Designed by Jan Horak of Spectrum Skis.
About wing paddles:
The cross section of a wing paddle is shaped like an airplane wing. If it were an airplane wing, as the airplane moved forward air flowing over the wing would provide upward lift on the airplane. In the case of a paddle blade, as the paddle moves away from the boat, water flowing across the blade provides forward lift on the paddle. So rather than acting as a stationary anchor on which to pull, the paddle itself can actually move forward in the water and pull you along with it.
While wing paddles are definitely more efficient for the forward stroke, they do require learning a different technique.
